DEHUMIDIFIER SAFETY
PLEASE READ AND SAVE
THESE IMPORTANT
SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric
s
hock, and injury to persons, including the following:
1. Read all instructions before using the appliance.
2. To avoid fire or shock hazard, plug the appliance
directly into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
3. Keep the cord out of heavy traffic areas. To avoid
fire hazard, NEVER put the cord under rugs or near
heat registers.
4. DO NOT place dehumidifier near heat sources such as
stoves, radiators, and heaters. Locate your dehumidifier
on an inside wall near an electrical outlet. The
d
ehumidifier should be at least 4” away from the wall
for best results.
5. NEVER place dehumidifier in an area where it is
a
ccessible to children.
6. Never place anything over the grill when the unit is running.
7. NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings.
8. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord
or plug, after the appliance malfunctions, or if it has
been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return
appliance to manufacturer for examination, electrical or
m
echanical adjustment, or repair.
9. Use appliance only for intended household use as
d
escribed in this manual. Any other use not recommended
by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury
to persons. The use of attachments not recommended or
sold by the manufacturer may cause hazards.
10.DO NOT use outdoors.
11.Always place dehumidifier on a firm, flat, level surface.
12.Dehumidifier should be unplugged when not in use.
1
3.NEVER tilt, move, or attempt to empty unit while it is
operating. Shut off and unplug before cleaning or
moving the dehumidifier. Be sure to unplug the
appliance by pulling on the plug and not the cord.
14.NEVER use detergents, gasoline, glass cleaner,
f
urniture polish, paint thinner, or other household
solvents to clean any part of the dehumidifier.
15.DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or
mechanical functions on this unit. Doing so will void
your warranty. The inside of this dehumidifier contains
n
o serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed
by qualified personnel only.
16. Never place housing under water flow or immerse in liquids.
1
7.Do not plug in the cord with wet hands: electric shock
could result.
1
8.NEVER operate the dehumidifier without the water
reservoir in place.
1
9.Use both hands when carrying the water reservoir.

HOW YOUR DEHUMIDIFIER WORKS
Your Bionaire
®
QuieTech

laden air through the intake grill on the back of the
appliance. Humid air passes through refrigerated coils
w
here the moisture is removed and collected in the water
reservoir. This model is specially designed to be ultra quiet
and can be used in any room in the house.
NOTE: When the dehumidifier is plugged in the display will
read the current room humidity level. The unit will remain in
standby mode until an operating mode is selected.
P
RE-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

surface, about 4” away from the wall.

out the filter tray from the back of the dehumidifier.
U
npack the carbon odor filter, fit it into the frame and
replace the tray into the appliance.
3. Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
N
OTE: The display will indicate the current room
humidity level when plugged in.
This product is for use on 120 volts. The cord has a plug

three-blade grounding-type plugs to two-slot recepta-

a
dapter must be connected to a permanent ground such
a
s a properly grounded outlet box. The adapter should
not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is avail-

A

Your dehumidifier is equipped with a
reservoir bypass, which is located on
the back of the unit. A standard hose
of 1/2” (12.5mm) Internal Diameter
can be hooked up to the bypass port
to direct water outside or to a sump
pump. (Hose not included)
Step 1: Remove the plug located on
the back of the unit. See Figure 3.
Step 2: Cut the hose to expose a bare
piece of rubber with no faucet connector attached.
S
tep 3: Insert the hose around the bypass port located
w
ithin this open area. Be sure the hose is completely
inserted around this bypass port by inserting it as far as it
can be attached.
Step 4: Direct the opposite end of the hose to a sump
pump or outside of your home far enough away from the
foundation to ensure proper drainage. The unit will now
direct water from the bypass port into the hose rather than
into the water reservoir. See Figure 4.
NOTE:The drainhose must bebelow the drainplug inorder
for the unit to drain properly.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Your QuieTech
dehumidifier is equipped with
SmartTouch electronic humidity sensor which allows you
to set and maintain your desired humidity level by pressing
one button. Scroll through the presets of the electronic
h
umidistat until you reach your desired comfort or power
setting. The ideal humidity for a comfortable room is
between 40% and 60%. The dehumidifier will beep when

t
he continuous mode. In this setting the appliance will
not turn off until the water reservoir needs to be
emptied or until the appliance is turned off.

setting of 45% - 55%. The appliance will monitor the
room humidity and automatically turn on and off to
achieve and maintain this desired setting.
4. Push the button again for a preset humidity setting of
55% - 65%. Again, the dehumidifier will automatically
sense the humidity and turn on and off to maintain your
desired comfort level.

NOTE: To help prevent leakage, you should use a
marker to denote the location where the hose meets
t
he housing on the rear of the unit. Periodically check
to make sure this indicator has not moved away from
the housing to ensure that your hose will not leak.
Leakage inside the unit will fall into the water reservoir. If
this happens you can empty the water reservoir by
f
ollowing the instructions above in the “Emptying the
Water Reservoir” section.
